Silver Rings
Silver rings have been worn by men women and children for many centuries. Silver is often preferred over gold not only for economy but often due to the color of the metal or even fashion. Sterling silver which is commonly used in the manufacture of jewellery is an alloy of 92.5% fine silver and other metals such as copper, zinc or platinum. This is mainly due to the fact that fine silver alone is too soft for general everyday use.
All sterling silver jewellery should be stamped with a hallmark. The most common for rings is the number 925 stamped on the inner surface of the band. Occasionally on more expensive examples you will find additional information such as the makers name and date of manufacture.
Sterling silver is prone to tarnishing due to the other metals (usually copper) that are present in the alloy. This can be reduced by the use of elements that are not prone to this effect such as platinum. However this adds to the cost of the finished article. There are many styles to choose from in the pages featured below. Please feel free to browse our website for some great deals on silver rings
